Artist Statement: Metamorphosis, Hybridity, and the Geometry of Belonging
I am a South African artist living in the Netherlands, shaped by the wild beauty of mountain landscapes and the rhythmic pulse of nature. My work is a celebration of metamorphosis—of shifting forms, layered identities, and the vibrant interplay between cultures. Through painting, drawing, sculpture, gelliprinting, and linoprinting, I explore the hybrid spaces where memory, migration, and transformation converge.
Nature is my first language. Fractals—those infinite patterns found in leaves, rivers, and clouds—guide my compositions and echo the complexity of identity. Color and sound are my compass: they shape my emotional landscape and infuse my work with movement and resonance. I often blend techniques intuitively, allowing each medium to speak its own dialect while contributing to a larger, polyphonic whole.
My art is rooted in multicultural experience, drawing from ancestral echoes and contemporary dissonance. I create to honor the fluidity of self, the sacred geometry of belonging, and the beauty found in contradiction. Each piece is a portal—an invitation to witness transformation and to embrace the fractal nature of being.
